Welcome to The Institute
"It's the grit that makes the pearl."
I.O.F.R. is a project put together by award winning composer
Stephen W. Parsons. Stephen has been composing music for television, film and
commercials for almost 20 years now. He has won several awards for his work
over the years. Before he was composing, Stephen was touring the world in the
70's and 80's fronting such acts as Baker/Gurvitz and The Sharks. This is a
collaboration work with guitarist Chris Spedding, Zoot Horn Rollo & Mick
Taylor. More info. coming very, very soon.
PRESS
PIPELINE Magazine - The
mysterious Institute of Formal Research has recruited some mighty famous names to lead
their first public project. For those unfamiliar with these icons of 60's and 70's
guitar, Zoot Horn Rollo fronted Captain Beefheart's Magic Band, Chris Spedding had a major
session career as well as his own hits and Mick Taylor forllowed a spell in John Mayall's
Bluesbreakers by being the best guitarist The Rolling Stones ever had.
Whatever the concept, this album comes across as
the definative guitar soundtrack album. Stirring flowing lead guitars are set
against a bass, drums and keyboards backing sometimes with additional orchestral support.
The atmosphere commands your attention and the images created are of the chilling
thriller variety, the Edge Of Darkness scenario.
Did you ever hear some great guitar on film or tv
only to find that the soundtrack wasn't available, or if it was then the rest of the album
was crap? Well here's the album to make up for all that. Expect to hear it on
celluloid or videotape soon.
